Evaluation of Presentations 

Here are some presentation methods and some of the benefits and negatives of said methods, details follow:

Powerpoint presentation

Advantage

These can be created easily with very little experience, one does not need to be a designing expert to prepare an effective presentation which can be illustrated very well for positive effect.

Advantage

The content can be presented in the form of bullet points, which is a cue for the presenter and can help keep the flow of the information be effective. Even the readers want to read small simple lines, rather than paragraphs so it gives a more easier to understand feel.

Disadvantage

Some presentation if done by unskilled operators can be loaded with either to much or too few imagery and text which can take away from the delivery of the material.

Disadvantage

If the flow of the information is off through the presentation it can lead to a really off balanced creation which might completely miss the point of the presentation and prove ineffective to the audience.

Presentation without Visual

Advantage

Able to react to the audience in reply to questions and answers and can frelly adapt to the mood.

Advantage

Can deliver Effective communication and hold the audience as the subjects key focus will be a discussion.

Disadvantage

Some members might not gain 100% focus as discussions might become tedious without visual representations.

Disadvantage

Audience engagement might lower when going through large amounts of information.

Presentation with Video’s

Advantage

Able to keep audience focus given changing material with visual representation which can be processed better than a long speech on details.

Advantage

Can take full advantage the visuals bringing the information to an almost tangible concept for others to see, advanced collection of content is a big bonus for planning.

Disadvantage

Not much interaction on the part of the audience which could possibly enduce boredom in some individuals meaning some of the message could be lost.

Disadvantage

Depending on the quality of videos is might be best to use a good presenter coupled with video as if it is mostly videos the audience might not connect with the presenter.

Presentation with Flip Chart

Advantage

Can work effectively in small groups and is coupled with a good presentation can convey good information which can be backed by imagery.

Advantage

Preparation work can all be done long before presentation meaning the information can be there on the day ready to be used and as it is a flip board it can be amended as need by the presenter.

Disadvantage

Can lose audience attention in short space of time and can appear outdated by today’s standards.

Disadvantage

Cannot show Video content on a flip chart meaning delivery material for presentation is limited to photos and images.

Debate

Advantage

Can allow effective time to be spent on important issues which will be raised by the group and allow for feedback or investigation.

Advantage

The audience get to have participative involvement on the outcome of the information and feel valued by being given the opportunity.

Disadvantage

Can become focused on a single issue if talks are not seen to be agreeable taking away from the presentation time as a whole and not offering collective address of issues.

Disadvantage

Key points could be spoken over dependant on the audiences input, small issues could become the central focus and tension may arise as debates can become heated.

Animated Presentations

Advantage

Can be very effective at addressing issues by being visual the information can be assimilated easily and retained

Advantage

Allows a laser focus to be placed on relevant information by engaging the audience at the required sections with the key information presented in an interesting manner.

Disadvantage

Can seem unprofessional given how the presentation is laid out, steps need to be taken to ensure information is displayed in a manner which the target audience would take the information on board.

Can be a cost for the construction of these as specialist knowledge is needed to make the animations flow together and deliver on the information required.
